Dr. Amy Chai, MD, MS, an expert in Primary Care and Addiction Medicine, understands that the mental health of our nation requires unity, not division. It is time for a candidate dedicated to honesty, integrity, and genuine respect—even when we disagree. United we stand.
Dr. Chai is a proven leader and a rational actor. She has a long history of solving real problems for real people in extreme circumstances. Pragmatic and tough, she approaches challenges without rigid ideology, understanding that the world is rarely black and white. She knows how to bring people together to achieve results for our country.
Rising from extreme poverty in a boarding home, Dr. Chai has experienced homelessness, hunger, and lack of access to health care. She persevered, earning a BA in Biology from Johns Hopkins University, an MD from Indiana University School of Medicine, completing Internal Medicine training at the University of Michigan Medical Center, and a Fellowship in General Medicine with an MS in Epidemiology from the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. She further self-studied to achieve a Fellowship in Addiction Medicine. Named a U.S. Presidential Teacher by the Obama Administration in 2011, Dr. Chai has coached speech and debate, authored publications, and balanced raising two adult children while caring for her elderly parents.
